2012 | YABU BAND WIN WA INDIGENOUS ARTIST OF THE YEAR AWARD
It is with much excitement and pride that we announce Yabu Band's win at the WAMi Awards on Saturday on the weekend for 'Indigenous Artist Of The Year 2012' Coming off the back of a sold out tour Yabu Band's efforts have been acknowledged and have paid off in their home state of West Australia where the WAMi Festival runs over one week and the awards night held on the last day.
With Yabu Band's continual commitment to bring youth substance abuse to the fore front of mainstream Australia's mind and NAIDOC week fast approaching, we ask that you consider Petrol Paint & Glue to be added to your NAIDOC radio programming and invite both press and radio for interviews.
On completion of a highly successful, sold out tour through out Western Australia and a show in both Melbourne and Alice Springs, Yabu Band received some well deserved recognition by winning IndigenousArtist Of The Year at the 2012WAMi Awards Saturday June 02. The annual WAMi Festival kicked off May 26 with the awards ceremony held on the final night that celebrates the great West Australian talent on offer.
Yabu Band have an exciting year ahead. They have secured a prestigious performance slot at the National Indigenous Music Awards to be held in Darwin on August 11 2012. They also look forward to releasing a new album titled ‘My Tjila’ meaning ‘My Country’ towards the end of the year that will contain the highly emotional, message driven track Petrol Paint & Glue as well as new progressive and innovative indigenous music.
With the National Indigenous Music Award nominations now open and with Yabu Band to perform, we expect see Yabu Band receiving more accolades on the night and solidifying them as one of Australia’s top indigenous acts.
